  • NJ Transit Atlantic City Rail Terminal, sturmovik wrote 17 years ago:
In 1934 the Pennsylvania RR and the Reading RR were merged into the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines. They combined their 3 stations into a single station Union Station which stood about 3 blocks south in that big green park area. The B&O never had a seperate presence in the city, and perhaps represents the Central RR of NJ, owned by the Reading RR which ran trains in from New York and had a partnership with the B&O for trains running from Philadelphia/Washington to New York. The "Short Line" was a reference an interurban streetcar line known as The Shore Fast Line which ran from Atlantic City to Ocean City via the mainland into the 1950s.
